GENERAL ARTICLES
=================================================================
Introducing the live_audio echo
By Richard Webb, 1:116/901
Are you involved in an institution of worship such as a church or
synagogue? ACtive with your community center or school district? ARE
you involved in a fraternal lodge or other similar organization?
DO you play music as a hobby or on a professional basis occasionally?
IF you answered yes to any of the above questions chances are the
subject of sound reinforcement has come up. Churches often begin
discussing these issues when the style of worship changes, or folks
start complaining about not being able to hear the sermon or liturgy.
SChool systems find their needs changing as well. Fraternal
organizations and others find folks not paying attention in meetings
because they can't hear speakers.
YOu would think that with the internet being everywhere information on
this topic would be plentiful. HOwever, a lot of the information that
is readily available is supplied by folks selling equipment, and
they're the wrong folks to ask. Of course, the equipment
manufacturers and distributors *always* have the right widget to meet
your needs, whether it's truly right or not.
Groups such as prosoundweb don't welcome amateurs it seems, and the
sole usenet newsgroup dedicated to sound reinforcement degenerates
into mud slinging and name calling more than sound reinforcement
discussions. IN fact, the language displayed might even offend
regularly.
IN order to provide fidonet sysops and users with a place to ask
questions and discuss these topics the echo live_audio was created.
YOur echo moderator has sent personal email invitations to several
professionals in the field known to him personally who will provide
good answers to questions raised without the personal attacks and
mudslinging. OTher fidonet sysops and users have some experience in
this area as well, and after a time this should be a high quality echo
for your bbs. All zone backbones are welcome to carry live_audio.
Gating to/from other fora requires prior approval however.
HElp make the live_audio echo a fun and interesting conference for all
fidonet users to visit and areafix the echo from your uplink. WE look
forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
Richard

Correction
In last week's article titled "2008 FTSC membership election Final
results", the end of term of re-elected FTSC member mark lewis
(1:3634/12) was erroneously listed as 10 March 2008. The correct
date is 13 April 2010.

Michiel van der Vlist 2:280/5555 17 Aug 2009
As a personal note I may add that I am pleased with the success of
this election. We got some new members who I trust will find their way
into the team and become a valuable addition. Nearly 40% of the
nodelisted RC's came to vote. I appreciate some in the *C chain
believe this could have been better and worry about dead wood in the
ranks. They may have a point as seen from their perspective. As a
FidoNet member however, I compare this with other FidoNet elections
and from that point of view, I can not but conclude that voter
participation was high for a FidoNet election.
I thank all the voters for taking the time and energy to vote.

FIDONEWS INFORMATION
=================================================================
How to Submit an Article
If you wish to submit an article for inclusion in the Fidonews, here
are some guidelines, if you send it as an attached file; the preferred
method if you want reasonable control over how the published article
will appear in the Fidonews:
a) Plain ASCII text. If you could type it on your keyboard, it's
probably quite OK. No line may be longer than 70 characters.
b) Put a title to the article. Put the title in two times. The first
time, on the first line, with an * before it. The second time, on
the second line, without the * and centered. This will help in the
format since the title with the * is removed and used in the index,
the second line will become the headline. On the third line, put
your name and FidoNet address, present or former. If former, you
may want to add some other address where you can be reached for
personal comments.
c) Deadline for article submission is Sunday, 22:00 UTC.
Help the Editor by following the above guides. Below are some subjects
and the file extension for the article as set in the configuration
file for the making of the Fidonews. Please help by putting the file
extension of the correct subject on the file name if known.
Ideas for Subject areas:
Subject File | Subject File

If you don't know or are not sure, send the article anyway. Put a .TXT
on it and I'll try to figure out where it should be in the Fidonews.
If you follow these simple guidelines, there should be little problem
in getting your article published. If your submission is too far out
of specs for the Fidonews, it will be returned to you and/or a message
sent informing you of the problem. This DOES NOT mean that your
article is not accepted. It means that there is something in it that I
can not fix and I need your help on it.
